Hot Air Balloons and… the Mother’s Day Phone Call…

May 14, 2012

Sunday morning, at about 6:30 am, we were awakened by a phone call.  Generally Mothers of fully grown kids like to have their Mother’s Day phone calls at a more reasonable time…

This phone call was from our son, Nick.  He said you should get up, put on your clothes and go outside — I’ll be flying over in a hot air Balloon in a couple of minutes…

Nick, Kellie and Val approaching the top of our garage and our house…

Really?!!  This is our kid that really is not too comfortable with heights and tight places.  Nick and Kellie had been doing WW Balloon Stampede Crew work and their Pilot, Val, ordered him into the Balloon… “you’re my Crew Chief so you have to do what I say…”

Val did a great job Piloting her Balloon and soon Nick and Kellie were flying directly overhead.  They were waving, and calling out “Happy Mother’s Day” which is a Mother’s Day ‘Call’ of sorts!  Actually you can talk pretty much normally and still be heard clearly.

Happy Mothers Day!!!…

It was quite an experience for all of us…

Val lights the Burner and they rise up to finish their flight…

Later when Nick and Kellie came over to cook Jill dinner, I asked Nick ‘how did you like your Balloon ride?’… “Not A Fan!”…     At least he tried it!

Charlotte displayed the most planning skills by sending Jill a nice Mother’s Day card and then she followed up with a phone call.  Further, her Mother’s Day call came at a reasonable time!

Carolyn, who is living in Bulgaria, wrote a nice post about her mother on her Blog.  Then Jill also got a Skype phone call – one of the wonders of technology that Carolyn wrote about…

Since I also got to participate in all of these events, I can say that we both had a nice Mother’s Day!

Three different kids and three different Mother’s Day Calls:  one from a Hot Air Balloon, one by Skype, and one by cell phone.  How can you top that?
