Walla Walla Blue Sky… over the Garden Courtyard…

May 10, 2012

It is hard to believe that it is already May here in the Valley of the Two Wallas… the buzz of Spring and the new Tourism Season are fully upon us!

It was a sunny, quiet moment when I arrived at Shady Lawn Antiques  yesterday morning.  I entered SL through the Courtyard doors.  My camera was in hand and the sky was incredibly blue so I took a couple of pictures.

This is a picture of the Courtyard structure that I took last year… I inserted it here so that you can see where the star and rusty chain are attached to the Courtyard structure.

When we constructed the Courtyard, we started with the two french doors.  We then used reclaimed 1800′s barn beams to build the Courtyard structure around them… the stars were my idea and our son, Nick, came up with the chain idea.

This is actually a picture from 2010… the first year of the Courtyard.

Hop Vines grew around the star last year and then dried out.  We left the dry vines with the hope that they will provide a structure for the new Vines to climb and grow around…

New Hop Vines are growing up past the rusty farm implement chain.  The blue sky was absolutely amazing…

The Hop Vines are often growing three inches a day…

We know that you will enjoy a visit our Garden Courtyard… it is full of great rustic garden things!
