a Walla Walla evening Winter Walk… home

January 21, 2012

The January weather has been unusual here in the Valley of the Two Wallas.  We had a record breaking high of 69 degrees during the first week of January.  Then it took until the third week of January to get our first snowfall of the winter.

The entire state of Washington, including Walla Walla,  got a blanket of snow this past week.  Then we had some freezing rain and a crust that you could walk on formed on top of the snow.  Finally today it warmed up and we had a significant melt before the temperature cooled back off.

I took the following pictures this evening at about 5:00 pm. on my walk home from Shady Lawn Antiques.  The top layer of the melted/refrozen snow was really reflecting the lights.  I wrote a post about my morning walk to SL on November 8th, 2011.  Some of the views are the same.
